Nir Mazliah (1976) lives and works in Tel Aviv.
His body of work is based mostly on figurative, narrative paintings, and consists of series.
Mazliah creates a world in ink pencil, graphite, and watercolors and builds oversized paper cutouts that are glued to clear PVC sheets.
The way they are placed at a distance from the wall creates reflections and illusions in the spirit of "theater - shadows". The images in Mazliah's works are borrowed from familiar quotes from art history, press photographs, and film. Expropriating the images from their initial context and creating new connections allows him to produce a disturbing view of the local and universal reality at this point in time.
He Postgraduate with honors from the Faculty of Fine Arts Department, University of Haifa (2016) and graduated from the Faculty of Art and Design, Shenkar academic college (2004).
Mazliah's work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Israel and abroad including Alfred-Institute, Tel Aviv (2020), Art Space TLV (2019), Contemporary Art Gallery, Dimona Theater (2018), Galleria Clou, Ragusa, Italy (2014), 6th International Arte Laguna Prize, at the Arsenale of Venice, Italy (2012), Fresh Paint 4, Contemporary Art Fair Tel Aviv (2011) The Heder Gallery, Tel Aviv (2008), Pyramida Center for Contemporary Art, Haifa (2007) and others.
His work is in private and public collections:
Tel Aviv University, Israel, Alber Elbaz, Paris, France, Dov Shiff -Marina Hotel, Tel Aviv, Yifat Gurion, Israel, and others.
